There are lots of thing to take into consideration when designing a kitchen.
Here is a list of things you will want to know when meeting with a kitchen design consultant;

1. Are you remodeling your current kitchen or are you building a new home and require custom design services?
Depending on your current situation, there are very different ways to approach the design of a kitchen. Whether you are remodeling your old kitchen and have to work around the current structure of your home or whether you're working with an architect and building a new home, the approach for each situation is unique and must be treated as such. Every kitchen design is different as are everyone's needs. Creativity on the part of the designer is imperative in order to achieve the kitchen you desire

2. What is your budget for the project? Everyone has a budget that they need to maintain for their kitchen - and it's meeting these needs in a respectable manner that is up to the design center.

3. What style of kitchen are you looking for? Whether you're in the market for a traditional French style kitchen or a modern sleek look, cabinet manufacturers have come a long way in recent years. A knowledgeable kitchen design will listen to your thoughts and ideas's and help translate that information into wood choices, cabinets door styles and finishes that can achieve your desired look and feel for you new kitchen. Ask to see a design portfolio or brochure. This will help you visually conceive your ideas and help instill confidence that the designer can achieve what you're looking for.

4. Who will be using the kitchen? It's one of those questions that many construction companies forget to ask you - who will be using your kitchen?
i. Do you require your dishwasher on the left or on the right?
ii. How tall does the stove area need to be in order to properly accommodate your stature?
iii. Will you need room for one cook or will several people be in the kitchen at the same time preparing meals?

Having the insight to ask questions is the first sign of good deign. "Form follows function - after all, what good is a beautiful kitchen if you can't enjoy being in it?"

Will you be using your current appliances or do you require new ones?
Depending on your current appliances, you may or may not need custom designed cabinets - however, the situation does arrive when you're looking to buy a new chief grade range or a large refrigerator.
